There was an article in the Daily News yesterday entitled "Seriously, no one cares about your back to school pictures." After reading the article, because I was curious about this person's perspective, I thought it was kind of interesting that someone who doesn't care about back to school pics would spend time writing an article about how they don't care about back to school pics. Since the article is so damn long, I'm going to say that even you care...maybe just a little.
It was written by a non-mom, which doesn't surprise me. I'm sure there are many moms that feel the same way, but we shame each other over more important things like your kid falling into a gorilla pit.
Now, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect hers, although I think it's a bit much and not really that serious, I respect it. But I had to ask myself, is this hateration due to the fact that she doesn't have kids of her own to take pictures of? I don't have a cat but I'm not mad when you post a picture of yours. I'm not going to hate on you, I'm just going to scroll passed it. It's really easy. You too have freewill. You can either choose to stop and admire, keep it moving, or stay off of social media for the 1st week of September to avoid all the cheesiness.
I completely understand that you may not give a crap about what the kid wants to be when they grow up, or what their favorite color is or what they love to eat. Really, this is stuff only a parent would appreciate, but you can choose to ignore it as opposed to mom-shaming.
The number of likes that I get on my kids back to school pics, doesn't affect how excited I am that they are growing up. Don't get me wrong, as a blogger, an increasing number of likes definitely helps my brand, but I'm not going to drown my sorrows in a bottle of Arbor Mist because you think posting pictures of my children is wack.
We all have things we want to share with others. I think my kids are cute and funny and bring smiles to many, so I want to spread the love. If you don't like it, that's cool. It's not the end of my world. I f you do like it, however, here's what I want you to do:
